Conference on “Choice, Competition and Innovation in Digital markets”

The conference brought together eminent speakers from Government, economics, law and policy to discuss relevant issues in the Indian context.

The conference began with a keynote by Mr. Ashok Gupta, the Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India. It was followed by an inaugural session with Dr. RA Mashelkar (former DG of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), Mr. Vijay Kelkar (former finance Secretary), Ms. Shilpa Kumar (Partner, Omidyar Network) and Mr. R. Chandrashekhar. This was followed by a panel discussion on “Competition in Digital economy: Changing paradigm” and the speakers included Professor Jacques Cremer (Toulouse School of Economics), Ms Payal Malik (Economic Advisor, CCI) and Professor Shubhashis Gangopadhyay. This was followed by a panel discussion on “Platform Regulation: Different folks, Different strokes”, and the speakers included Dr. Derek  Ritzman (Economic Partners), Dr. Gregor Langus (Director E.CA Economics) and Dr Geeta Gouri (Former Member, CCI). This was followed by a panel discussion on “Public Private Partnership in R&D: Potential and Problems, and the speakers included Professor Ashish Arora (Duke University), Dr. Chirantan Chatterjee (IIM Ahmedabad), and Dr. Nishant Chadha (CDF).
